If you’re a regular reader here at EvinOK, you know I love sending care packages to my friends. I probably send about two to six per month. Most are baby gifts, admittedly, but some are carefully planned, like the one I am sharing today. This was a special crafty knitter care package I prepared just for my friend Marseille. I even made three of the items in it.
I wish I had taken the time to document each package she and I have sent to each other, but we’re too busy rolling in yarn usually. In any case, here is a package she sent me in 2015 and here is a post all about how I create my thoughtful crafty care packages.
As you can see, there is a lot going on in this package. Here is a list of the contents:
- Handmade drawstring reversible project bag
- Stitch markers (I made them and blogged about it last week)
- One skein of Strand Designs yarn
- Novelty pocket-sized tissue packs
- Mini page marker Post-Its in Little handmade patchwork notion bag
- Six different style buttons
- Felted balls
Now, many of these things are self explanatory, but I’ll try to detail the more interesting bits and tell you where I sourced everything in case you are on a lifelong mission to own tissues with clouds. Here we go…
Handmade drawstring reversible project bag
I found sweet fabric and ribbon to make this. Vibes and Scribes was great for the sale cottons and interfacing. I really wanted it to be big enough for the knitting and any little notions needed. It ended up being the size of a soccer ball. Completely reversible. I am working on one for myself too and will document the process better so I can do a blog post about it.
Stitch markers (I made them and blogged about it last week)
One skein of Strand Designs yarn
Blue Jeans colourway in Strand Designs‘s 4ply sock weight (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon wool – approx 425m per 100g). Hand dyed in Laois, Ireland.
Novelty pocket-sized tissue packs
A fun find from Tiger.
Mini page marker Post-Its
Søstrene Grene had these cute sets.
Six different style buttons in Little handmade patchwork notion bag
I went to the Cork Button Company with LB and we had some fun choosing different unbarring buttons. The ones on cards are from Tiger.
I saw these and thought they were so sweet and simple, but a bit whimsical. Though Marseille and I have different styles, we both like a bit of whimsy.
This is so cute, but can be worn without looking too artsy or out there. I like stuff like that because it tends to get worn more.
An impulse buy from Søstrene Grene. You can see their Instagram post about them here.
That’s it. The beauty of a good care package is that it feels overwhelming when you first open it. You want your friend to fell showered with love and thoughtfulness. But after the sparkle has settled, it is good for each item to be usable, so they can be enjoyed in life.
What is your favourite item in this care package? Do you think I should have a giveaway on the blog with a care package prize?
