What’s the catch? Nothing. Knitwear designers work hard to create patterns. Usually, free or magazine patterns are meant to connect with new knitters in the hopes of sharing their passion for well-drafted patterns, and perhaps sell another pattern or some yarn as well. You get a free pattern and a chance to try something by that designer. If you love the free pattern, maybe you’ll then buy one of their paid patterns. Respect the pattern designer’s copyright and do not repost, share, or distribute the original full pattern.
