Knitting Rhea Silvia by Sara Morris

As you’ve seen over the last couple of months how much I admire the prolific crafting of my friend Marseille. I feel very lucky to have this forum to brag about her and share details and photos of her creations. This is the latest in my posts about Marseille’s knits.

Today’s post is all about knitting Rhea Silvia by Sara Morris (Warning: Ravelry link as no alternative was found for this pattern). Marseille shared her notes so you’ll hear all about knitting Rhea Silvia by Sara Morris in Marseille’s own words.

The Pattern & Process

A fun knit, and well-written pattern. I added a couple of plain rows (one each between sections). Tried a different provisional cast-on, which slowed me down, because the first row has cable twists. I’d recommend one that casts on over the cable of a circ, or at least the crocheted version, for speed. The one I used was a long-tail, with waste yarn as one end. Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off came through, again. I quite like the edging.

Blocking made the result more lacy, but the texture was lovely without blocking as well.

The Yarn

Yarn worked really well–I was a bit worried it wasn’t solid enough, and would compete with the pattern, but I like the effect. 🙂

Marseille knit it up with US 5 – 3.75 mm needles and two skeins of Cascade Yarns ® Heritage Paints bought at The Loopy Ewe in Fort Collins, Colorado.
