Preppy Southern Monogrammed Handmade Blouse

My friend Laura has an embroidery machine and some phenomenal sewing skills so when she noticed I was pinning monogrammed blouses on Pinterest, she sent me a photo of one she made from scratch and asked if I’d like one for myself. Well, how could I say no to such generosity?! We coordinated on the thread color and then she even recorded video of her embroidery machine in action so I could see the blouse take shape. Today, I’m sharing the video I made with her iPhone 6 footage, as well as photos of the final monogrammed blouse.

Now, for the final reveal of the blouse Laura sewed for me. It has a swing-shape so perfect with skinny jeans or leggings. I can’t wait to button this up with leggings and boots for something that feels like PJs but looks polished and preppy.

I belted it with two skinny belts buckled together, one brown, one navy/white dots.

The back has a triangular section which adds body to the blouse and is in the same striped fabric, but turned to be perpendicular to the stripes in the rest of the blouse. Monogram Shirt 0873

Of course, here are some closeups of the final monogram. It’s delicious how she put the “K” inside the “O,” which is how I prefer my monogram but it isn’t common usage.

Laura is amazingly talented, but even more cherished to me is her thoughtfulness and generosity. I’m so blessed to be her friend. Did I mention she hand delivered the blouse to me here in Ireland and stayed a week to get quality hanging out time in? Yeah, it was such fun. You should have seen us browsing the second-hand shops for material here in town!

What item would you want to bear your monogram if it were you?
