Knitting a Baby-sized Shelly Kang Sock Yarn Blanket

Marseille recently showed me her completed Sock Yarn Blanket by Shelly Kang. It was stunning and the so soft to squish. She knit it on US 2 – 2.75 mm needles using various sock yarn scraps and leftovers, many from her ADVENTurous Wrap KAL.

Here are her progress photos, followed by my photos of the completed baby-sized blanket.

Now, let’s be real here, because this blanket is made from leftover scraps, it can be a long-term project. You know the kind that sits awaiting a bundle of scraps to congregate to work on again. Of course, this is one of many projects that is ideally suited for mini skeins and sock yarn leftovers – I wrote a whole post highlighting such patterns, Fabulous Knitting Patterns for Yarn Scraps and Mini Skeins.

Marseille started this blanket on March 26 2011 and completed it on September 10 2016 – just in time for the Anne Arundel County Fair.

In the process of knitting this, Marseille said that some yarns that she wasn’t loving in socks ended up being perfect for a tiny square.

I love this combination of rich jewel tone hues and yarn luster. Which square is your favorite? I’m kinda digging the orange ones, but the pink and grey is lovely too.
